Prioritising your health

What's more important than your mental and physical health? So why is exercise not booked in your diary as a priority?!

Sustainable healthy eating habits, no diets!

Healthy eating doesn't have to be salads and feeling hungry! I don't  believe in in 'fad' or short term diets at all. I believe in long term sustainable healthy eating patterns with room for treats in moderation. I love food! You can't exercise without fuel!

Mental Health benefits

When you're struggling with your emotions or mental health it is really easy not to exercise on those days and to eat rubbish or eat nothing at all. But for me, those are the days I force myself to exercise and eat well. As I know that looking after my body will help heal my mind.

Exercise is well researched to have positive benefits of:

  •  Releasing feel-good hormones
  • Improving confidence and self-esteem
  • Improving sleep
  • Improving concentration, focus and memory
  • Happier moods
  • Reduced stress and anxiety
  • Social interaction and making friends

Variety is key!

It's easy to get bored if you do the same exercise all the time. I believe in mixing it up as much as possible to reduce your chances of giving up because you're bored and unmotivated. There are so many different ways to exercise and get moving!

Find what you love

If you absolutely hate running then you're not going to stick at it are you? With all the variety of exercises you just need to try different things to find what you love (or atleast don't hate!) Once you find types of exercise you enjoy you are far more likely to stick at it. That doesn't mean it won't feel like hard work at times, but it's much easier to work hard at something we enjoy.
